Praise

      Prelude

      Scripture:  Luke 18:31-34

      Gathering Song:   Open now thy gates of beauty (HWB 19)

      Welcome

      Congregational Reading from Psalm 118

      All:        O, give thanks to the Lord!

      Left:        God is good!

      Right:    God’s steadfast love endures forever!

      Center:  Let those who fear the Lord say,

                 ‘God’s steadfast love endures for ever.’

      Voice 1: Out of my distress I called on the Lord;

                 the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.

                 With the Lord on my side I do not fear.

                 What can mortals do to me?

                 The Lord is on my side to help me;

                 I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.

      Left:      Open to us the gates of righteousness,

                 that we may enter through them

                 and give thanks to the Lord.

      Right:    This is the gate of the Lord;

                 the righteous shall enter through it.

     Voice 2: I thank you that you have answered me

                 and have become my salvation.

                 The stone that the builders rejected

                 has become the chief cornerstone.

      All:        This is the Lord’s doing;

                       it is marvelous in our eyes.

      Left:      This is the day that the Lord has made;
                 let us rejoice and be glad in it.

    Right:    Save us, O Lord! Give us success!

      Left:     Save us, O Lord! Give us success!

    Center:  Save us, O Lord! Give us success!

      Voice 1: Blessed is the one

                 who comes in the name of the Lord.

      Voice 2: Blessed is the one

                 who comes in the name of the Lord!

      Voice 3: Blessed is the one

                 who comes in the name of the Lord!

      Right:     You are our God, and we will give thanks to you;

      Left:    you are our God, we will extol you.
