Summary

I remember vividly the first time I got into trouble in kindergarten. Kindergarten at that time included full sections of the room that were devoted to play, so we had a corner for building things, and another for doing arts and crafts, and one for playing house and dress up, as well as whole blocks of time to use these spaces. I loved to play as a kid, and that day I got a little out of hand when I impulsively yelled loudly to get the attention of a friend across the room. And apparently, that was not allowed in kindergarten. So later during nap time, when almost everyone else got a feather in their headband for good behavior, I did not, and I was crushed.

But that first incident wasn’t the last. I loved more than anything in those days to play dress up and there were these gorgeous clip-on earrings with little red balls on them in the dress up bin in the classroom that I just had to have. So I snuck them into my pocket and took them home. Fortunately, my mom didn’t discover them until the next year when I was out of that class. Unfortunately, she still made me return them to the teacher and fess up to what I had done.
