I would like to thank the many people of Berkey Avenue for their thoughts, prayers, cards and well wishes over the past several months. They have been much appreciated. Several weeks ago I had a biopsy back in Detroit of one of three lymph nodes in my mediastinum which have appeared over the past 6 months. It was positive for renal cell carcinoma which came from the original kidney cancer. I then started on an oral chemotherapeutic medicine called Votrient. It is a daily medication that I will take for three months and then evaluate my body’s response at that time (probably mid-June). I’ve thankfully had few side effects from the medication. At this point I’m thankful for every day God gives me. Meredith and I will return to Indiana in late April for the summer and we are looking forward to reconnecting with Berkey Avenue.
